SUMMARY:Caregiver Workshop - You've Got This: Navigating Starting School
DESCRIPTION:Pasadena Education Network is a local organization that helps parents and guardians explore\, evaluate\, and engage with their public schools\, and represents a collective voice for parents with the Pasadena Unified School District.  \nSCCM is working with with them\, as well as community partner Gia Gambaro Blount to offer a three session parent/guardian learning series\, where families are invited to get support as they prepare to send their early learners to school for the first time.  \nIn this April 2nd workshop\, you’ll learn more about the difference between TK and PreK\, and understand how to know what is right for you and your child. \n\n\n\nPurchase Tickets to the April 2nd Workshop\n\n\n\nTickets are $15 per family of 4 per session\, and are available online or in person.  \nChildren are welcome to come and play in the museum during the workshop.  \nDoors for the event will open at 5:30 p.m.\, and the workshop/discussion will begin at 6:00 p.m.  \nWe know it’s dinner time! Families are invited to bring their own dinner to enjoy it at the museum.  \nThe following workshops in this series will cover:  \n\nAn approach to choosing a school that centers your values while minimizing stress & peer pressure (April 9th)\n\nPurchase Tickets to the April 9th Workshop\n\n\nHow to navigate the PUSD enrollment process. The Foundation of the San Gabriel Valley Dental Society will host an educational program featuring a dental-themed story time\, a Q&A session with local pediatric dentist Dr. Soo Song\, and hands-on oral hygiene activities including tooth brushing and flossing demonstrations\, along with oral health education for young children. \nChildren who have signed up for the dental screening as they walked in will be seen by dentists as their names are called. \nThis event is free with admission. The Foundation of the SGVDS is sponsoring the first 20 participants who arrive at the museum and register for the event! \nEvent Schedule \n• 10:00-10:45 – Dental themed story-time and Q&A with Dr. Soo Song\, pediatric dentist \n• 10:00-12:00 – Ongoing activity stations for tooth brushing\, flossing\, oral health education\, and screening for the children who registered. DESCRIPTION:The Interconnected Wonders workshop offers cooperative activities to experience a felt sense of our place in the larger web of life with Earth. Children will be invited to connect through a community connection action and imaginative play dress-up activity. Free with admission. Play passes may be used for this event. \nThis workshop is part of Connections\, a public project produced for the Southern California Children’s Museum by the nonprofit Drawing Together in collaboration with four artists: Karen Godfrey and Mary Duman from Wrightwood and Amy Bauer and Emily Gallagher from Los Angeles. The exhibit and workshops aim to explore our connection to each other and the planet and address social isolation. Research has found that nearby nature can help us feel connected by offering socially isolated people an alternative way of feeling connected and overcoming the effect of low social connectedness. This project is made possible by an Impact Grant from the California Arts Council\, a state granting agency.

DESCRIPTION:Join Kira Bender\, MS OTR/L\, from The Center For Connection and Neurodiversity\, for a story time featuring My Brain is Magic by Prasha Sooful. Following the story\, children can participate in sensory play while Kira leads a short workshop for caregivers focused on identifying supportive services for autistic children and encouraging inclusive relationships among all children.
