Ezra Jack Keats was an award-winning author and illustrator best known for The Snowy Day, about a little boy playing in the snow. The book went on to win the 1963 Caldecott Medal, the greatest honor given to picture books at the time. From the beginning, he focused on diverse characters growing up in a city much like Brooklyn, New York (where Ezra grew up). Over the course of his career, Ezra wrote 22 picture books and illustrated more than 85 books for children. We’re excited to share some of his work with all of you during our Tuesday Story and Craft! Plus, while you’re here, don’t forget to check out our interactive The Snowy Day exhibit, currently on display at Southern California Children’s Museum!
