COVID times call for COVID asks.

What we set out hoping would be a few months of closure, now has no definitive end in sight, particularly given California’s most recent restrictions. We lost momentum after an exciting Wild California permanent exhibit launch and had to put our executive director hiring plans on hold. Nevertheless, we have been resilient, having sustained ourselves for over nine months without being able to open our doors to our wonderful community. We’re proud of our board and staff for pivoting to online programming and continuing to make significant impact in our local, underserved community during this difficult year.

We’ve had to dip into healthy museum reserves to cover substantial operating costs and are now turning to you, our committed donor and friend of the museum for help. Like many non-profit organizations and businesses, we are nearing the end of our ability to survive on our own and have to raise these crucial funds in order to save all that we have worked so hard to build over these last 8 years.

We are digging deep and setting a lofty museum goal of $440,000 before the end of 2020. It’ll be a challenge, but is what is needed to get us out of pandemic times.
