Come explore the breadth and depth of the cultures that exists in our beautifully diverse community! It’s a week of music, from Mariachi music to an African drum circle to a BollyPop dance party, we are exploring the heartbeats of the many cultures of Los Angeles through music and dance! This June Music Series was made possible through a grant from the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts.

Los Sanchez Mariachi

An emblem of cultural heritage, mariachi music is a staple in Mexican culture. We are excited to welcome Los Sanchez Mariachi, a family quartet led by music teacher Esbeyde Sanchez, for a special performance! Get ready for an interactive show where little ones not only get to experience mariachi music up close and personal, but also get to learn about the instruments, the traditions and ask questions!

BollyPop Interactive Dance Performance

Get ready to move! BollyPop is bringing a dance party to SCCM! BollyPop Dance Workshop will take you on a journey to different parts of India- from traditional classical to upbeat folk, we will explore various dance styles with founder Aakansha Maheshwari. Get ready for some high-energy, interactive fun!

Interactive Jungle Drum Circle with Chazz Ross

Join us for a Jungle Drum Circle where we’ll create jungle sounds and sing silly songs together using African Djembe Drums! Performer Chazz Ross’s performance teaching reflects forty years of achievements in African music and dance, Latin percussion, martial arts, stand-up comedy and acting. Kids (and grown-ups) will have the chance to play djembe drums as part of the drum circle that Chazz will instruct and lead!

 

Each performance is approximately 30-45 minutes long. All performances are *free* with admission but capacity is limited, so come early! No advance reservations are required.
