We miss you. Southern California Children’s Museum is just not the same without our community, our family and our kids filling the space with laughter and love. As we move into a fourth month of temporary closure due to COVID-19, we want to provide you with an update on our plans.

We brought our popular Story and Craft program online, including collaborating with some phenomenal authors. We have a Summer Book Club, hosted on Zoom by children’s book author Larissa Theule. Plus, this month, we will be launching an ABC Series on our social platforms where we will explore each letter of the alphabet with a themed activity ranging from fun crafts to sensory play to silly gross motor development skills! The series will be accompanied by a curated activity kit, available for sale online. In addition to original content, we have also been curating and sharing resources through our social media accounts. Whether it’s at-home play ideas or how to talk to your children about anti-racism, we are here to help you navigate this trying time.

While we do not yet have a firm date, we are following State and City guidelines as we plan for an eventual re-opening. We already have new procedures and practices in place, including timed visitation, extensive new cleaning protocols, and significantly reduced capacity to allow for safe distancing. Since experiential learning through play is part of our DNA, our exhibits and facility are highly interactive. As such, we are continually re-evaluating our space and programming in order to best prepare it for your return.
We are grateful for the continued support we’ve received, and are deeply appreciative of your commitment to the Museum. We look forward to the day we can safely welcome you back. In the meantime, please consider a financial contribution to SCCM! It’s easy to DONATE! It’s all of you who help sustain us and we need you now more than ever. If you have questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to drop us a line!

Stay safe and be well,
SCCM Board of Directors and Staff
