Where Play Meets Celebration!

Celebrate in a space designed just for kids! At the Southern California Children’s Museum, we offer two party packages for birthdays and more! With flexible party options, hands-on fun, and 7,000+ square feet of interactive exhibits, we make parties a breeze for grown-ups and magical for little ones. We have two standard party packages to choose from, and full museum buy-outs and space rentals if you are looking for something more custom!

Standard Party Packages

Semi-Private Party | $500

Celebrate during normal museum hours with your own reserved party space! 

What’s Included:

  • Private use of our Snack Room 
  • 25 guests included
  • Birthday child and babies under 1 are free!
  • Access to all museum exhibits during normal operating hours
  • Decorations and insured vendors allowed in the Snack Room
  • Optional add-ons available

Max guest count: 35 (additional guests $10 each)

Private Party | $1200

Have the entire museum to yourself for a truly unforgettable party!

What’s Included:

  • Private access to the entire museum.
  • 50 guests included.
  • Birthday child and babies under 1 are free!
  • Guaranteed museum parking lot access to guests.
  • Decorations and insured vendors allowed in the Snack Room and throughout museum.
  • Optional add-ons available.

Max guest count: 75 (additional guests $10 each)

Optional Add-Ons

Goody Bags |  $8 each
Guests leave with a little play to take home! Each small gift bag is filled with 2 small toys, 2-3 small pieces of candy, a sticker or temporary tattoo, and a play pass good for 1 museum admission.
Goody Bags are sold in increments of 5.

Extra Time | $50 per 15 minutes*

Perfect if you think you might need a little extra time for set-up or clean-up.
*All time extensions must be confirmed by SCCM staff in advance and are subject to availability.

Additional Guests | $10 per person 

Want to expand your party guest list? Add on a few more folks for an additional fee, up to 10 more people for semi-private parties, and up to 15 more for private parties.
Group rates and play-passes do not apply to additional guest costs. 

Party Booking Policies

  • All party reservations have a $150 non-refundable deposit.
  • There are no refunds for cancellations or no-shows within 2 weeks of the party date.
  • Parties can be rescheduled two weeks or more before the planned date. The $150 deposit is transferable to this new date, and we can only reschedule to currently available dates and times.
  • New party slots open on the first of the month at noon.
  • Add-ons can be added or removed no later than two weeks before your party.
  • All party guests must follow our Guest Code of Conduct regardless of private or semi-private parties. Please see our terms and conditions for more.

Party FAQs

We love when families make the party their own! You’re welcome to bring decorations, we ask that you follow our damage-free guidelines to help keep our museum safe for all guests.

✔️Allowed: Painter’s tape, string, and removable command hooks

❌Not Allowed: Packaging, scotch, duct or double sided tape, staples, nails, push-pins, or glue on walls and furniture

Yes, but they must follow our safety and cleanup guidelines: All helium balloons must be securely weighted at all times. Balloon arches and displays are welcome, but must be fully removed by the end of your clean-up time.
Any party items that are left behind (e.g., balloon arches in public spaces) will result in an additional cleaning fee.

You’ll have a 15-minute take-down window to gather your belongings and remove all personal decorations, food, and large décor pieces.

Don’t worry—SCCM staff will handle the rest, including wiping down tables, sweeping floors, and taking out the trash, so your wrap-up is quick and easy.

Set-Up | 30 minutes

Arrive 30 minutes before your party time to decorate, set-up your snacks, and get ready to welcome guests. Our team will be on hand to assist with basic needs and answer questions.

Party & Play | 2 hours

The fun begins! SCCM staff will greet your guests at check-in, ensure everything runs smoothly, and make party announcements as needed while kids explore and play.

Take-Down | 15 minutes

After the celebration, you’ll have 15 minutes to gather your belongings and pack up decorations. 

Absolutely! You are welcome to bring your own snacks, meals, and beverages to enjoy during your party.

Please note: Alcohol is not permitted during regular operating hours, including daytime private parties. If you would like to include adult beverages at your party, consider booking an after-hours museum buy-out, where alcohol is allowed when served by a licensed, permitted vendor.

Yes! You can hire outside vendors such as caterers, balloon artists, or other entertainers to enhance your party—just keep these guidelines in mind:

  • All vendors must provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) and receive written approval from SCCM prior to your event.
  • Live animals are not allowed inside the Snack Room.
  • We do not allow entertainment or demonstrations that include fire, firearms, or smoke.

Parties with 2 or more food vendors automatically incur an additional time fee due to extended setup and cleanup needs.

Definitely! We’d love to show you around. To schedule a walkthrough, simply email us at info@socalkids.org to arrange a time that works.

We’re unable to store party supplies or decorations ahead of time. Please plan to bring everything with you during your scheduled set-up window on the day of your party.

Yes! A mini fridge is available in the Snack Room for small items like cakes or drinks. Since SCCM’s kitchen space is limited, we recommend bringing your own cooler for anything that won’t fit in the mini fridge.
